Leave the Laptop Behind: Xerox Announces Mobile Print

Today’s workforce is agile, immediate and resourceful. A significant part of the workforce population roams between two, three or more locations, using a smartphone to stay connected to colleagues, clients and business partners. Our customer Procter & Gamble (P&G), for example, has more than 20,000 employees using mobile devices.

We’re announcing a new level of support for the mobile worker – the ability to travel without a laptop and still print as necessary. The mobile print solution will allow P&G employees, and soon other Xerox customers, to print e-mails, presentations and other business documents directly from their smartphones. Users simply e-mail their documents to a secure server, walk up to any printer in the network and enter a code to release the prints.

As the newest addition to Xerox’s Enterprise Print Services (EPS) strategy, mobile print marks a continued expansion of print services from the traditional office to the virtual and home-based environment. The solution leverages existing EPS infrastructure, meaning it resides within the guidelines already created with our customers in terms of cost optimization, productivity levels, environmental sustainability goals and security restrictions.

This solution is innovative – the first of its kind that requires only an e-mail enabled device – flexible and easily accessible. It represents convenience and empowers workers to be productive no matter where they are with a consistent and reliable experience. Personally, I expect our customers will see great results with mobile print – including satisfied employees who no longer have to worry about how they will print the documents they need to do what they do best.
