A Musical Note: Building the Xerox Playlist

by, Ken Ericson, Xerox Public Relations

I have 1,950 songs on my iPod.  It’s a pretty eclectic mix, from jazz to rock to pop.

From those, there are 120 songs in a playlist for when I run. They’re mostly fast-tempo, heart-pumping tunes that help me go the extra mile. There are older songs from Dave Matthews Band and Pearl Jam, newer songs from Kings of Leon and Linkin Park, and I’ll confess, “Gonna Fly Now,” the theme from “Rocky” (but that’s just between us, OK?).

Playlists say a lot about us and can impact the way people think.  That’s probably why the presidential candidates recently announced the songs they’ll be playing during campaign events.

And that got me thinking—for a company that’s simplifying how work gets done, what would be in the Xerox playlist?

Some songs immediately come to mind, like “Taking Care of Business” by Bachman-Turner Overdrive, “Simply the Best” by Tina Turner and “We Are the Champions” by Queen.  And consider “Imagine” by John Lennon for our commitment to innovation, or “Better Together” by Jack Johnson for the addition of our services business.

Those are my ideas.  What are yours?  We’d love to hear them.

Lets not forget these Xerox chart-topper possibilities:
    – “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga
    – “Putting it Together” by Barbara Streisand (1990’s Xerox commercial – DocuTech Production Publisher)
