Xerox CEO Ursula Burns says Xerox participation in drupa signals the start of a new era of industry leadership and partnership with customers.

It’s day three of drupa – the energy level is high, the excitement around print is contagious and attendees are eager to learn about the latest and greatest print innovations that are transforming the industry.

Earlier this morning Xerox CEO Ursula Burns and Technology Business president Jeff Jacobson kicked the day off with a press conference discussing the company’s commitment to the graphic communications industry. In her remarks, Ursula noted that Xerox’s return to drupa not only speaks to its staying power, but also signals the start of a new era of industry leadership and partnership with customers.

Jeff echoed Ursula’s sentiments and discussed how Xerox is sharing its vision for succeeding in today’s graphic communications marketplace with breakthrough innovations and technologies that can help print providers capture the industry’s most prolific growth opportunities.

Those innovations include Xerox’s two new inkjet presses that are designed to power new business growth and redefine the next chapter for printing customers:

  • Xerox Brenva HD Production Inkjet Press: Think of the iGen, but with an Impika engine inside. It’s Xerox’s first cut-sheet inkjet press that builds on the foundation of iGen, along with inkjet expertise from Impika, which we acquired in 2013.
  • Xerox Trivor 2400 Inkjet Press: Bringing more flexibility and scalability than ever before to the continuous feed market, this new press enables printers to grow and update capacity whenever and however they want. With the Trivor 2400, print shops can also move to broader application areas such as catalogs, magazines and color books.

The Brenva HD and Trivor 2400 presses are opening up an array of new opportunities for print providers. In fact, we’re thrilled to announce two customers who have already purchased these new presses to produce exciting applications:

  • DocOne in Toulouse, France, purchased two Trivor 2400 Inkjet Presses and plans to use them to aggregate up to 250 million mail pieces – for nearly 1 billion digitally printed pages – every year.
  • Hume Media in Ontario, Canada, purchased a Brenva HD Production Inkjet Press to increase competitiveness when printing books exceeding volumes of 1,000.

Xerox continues to raise the bar on production inkjet with the unveiling of its High Fusion Ink, which is designed to print on traditional offset coated stocks. These game-changing inks save our customers time and money, allowing them to get into new application areas – such as catalogs, direct mail and magazines – at print volumes far more accessible than ever before.

During the press conference, Robert Stabler, who leads Graphic Communications at Xerox, introduced exciting new developments that are shaking up the packaging and catalog spaces.

Xerox recently announced a partnership with KBA Group to market a first-of-its-kind 40-inch digital sheetfed press for the folding carton market – the KBA VariJET 106 Powered by Xerox. Robert highlighted how the press can run multiple versions of the same carton as well as customized cartons, opening up new business opportunities for industrial production printers.

Xerox is also debuting a personalized catalog solution developed in concert with XMPie, a Xerox Company, Solimar and Mueller Martini. The new end-to-end workflow solution will run on a Trivor 2400. The solution uses Xerox FreeFlow Core to automate the entire workflow process, XMPie PersonalEffect to create customized content to meet tailored requests from customers, and Mueller Martini’s Presto II Digital Saddle Stitcher to bind and finish the product.

Additionally, Andrew Copley, president, Xerox Graphic Communications, discussed XMPie’s recent announcement with AlphaGraphics. XMPie is providing AlphaGraphics with scalable, cloud‐based software as the technology behind its agOnline Web‐to‐Print, multi‐channel and marketing automation solution. The solution enables the AlphaGraphics network of more than 275 Business Centers to offer higher‐value marketing services.
