By Juan Leal,
Vice President of Latin America, Xerox ITO Business Services
Xerox is taking the next logical step in our global expansion.
Shortly, we will begin recruiting senior network engineers to staff our newly-established technology center in Lima. The Peru center is expected to employ up to 200 specialized engineers in about two years, but this center is following a well-worn path of the company’s growth in this market.Xerox began selling printing services and equipment here more than 45 years ago.
More recently, our services business established world-class customer care services here. In fact, the response has been so strong for these services that we established a 755 person customer call center in Lima last year. And our transportation group recently designed an innovative ticketing system in Lima to move millions of people a year. Combined, these businesses employ more than 900 Peruvians in what I consider a growth industry.
Based on successful facilities in Monterrey and Mexico City, and Cordoba and Buenos Aires, Argentina where more than 1,500 engineers provide regional and global IT services, the new technology facility in the Xerox Tower at Dionisio Derteano 144 – Piso 21 – San Isidro will initially house information technology engineers who will provide 24-hour support for locally-based and international clients.
The new center will introduce new capabilities and industry expertise to the local market by providing technological support for mainframe and midrange computer systems: computer network management; information security and disaster recovery services. The new center will be able to help companies in various business sectors reduce their information technology costs by taking advantage of Xerox’s innovation and deep industry expertise ranging from health care to entertainment.
In summary, not only are we following the path of success in Lima, we’re also taking the next logical step in our evolution by building on this foundation by diversifying our business and expanding our opportunities for growth.
